Xin Tian Di 新天地

Xin Tian Di, firmly embedded in the traditional Shanghai Shikumen houses, gradually gaining its fame, now has become the hottest tourist spot of the city. The little neighbourhood, divided by Xingye Rd.into a north and south block is lined with chic restaurants, bars and boutique shops. You may order a drink, sit in the open air, and enjoy people-watching, although it's not the only thing to do here.

Have to cancel my weekend plan

Due to the record high temperature (40 degree Celsius!) here in Shanghai, I have to cancel my plan, which is test walking those routes.

Work in Progress: Shanghai Longtang Tour

Shanghai's characteristic Longtang ("弄堂') has its unique culture. It will be very fun to see some of the well-preserved Longtang in the big City.

I'm still making a list:

etc. etc......

I'll come up with the tour plan by the end of this month.

Route 2 (test run)

Route 2 The old part of Shanghai

Visiting Shanghai is not just about marveling at its height and speed. The old part of Shanghai, namely the Old Town, is also fascinating.

Meeting Point:
McDonald’s, 138 Huai Hai Rd. Shanghai

From there we’ll begin to explore the old part of Shanghai.

No.1 Dongtai Lu Antique Market

Wander along Dontai Lu, and discover some of the knick-knacks.

No.2 Old Town

The layout of the Old Town still reflects the footprint of Shanghai’s old 5km-long city walls, though they were torn down in 1912, the outline can still be seen in the circular path of Renmin Lu and Zhonghua Lu.

You may visit Chen Xiang Ge Temple, pay respects to Budda as the locals do. Or pick a window seat in one of the tea houses, sip Chinese tea while watching crowds on Zig-zag Bridge, or simply wander in the Old Town.

No.3 The Bund

Leaving the Old Town, we walk east and finally reach the renowned Bund. Stroll past the landmark buildings, for example, the newly furnished He Ping Hotel, Bank of China Building, the Customs House, where you see architecture of Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance. The Bund ends with Waibaidu Bridge over which trams used to glide. Not far from there is the Russian Consulate General.

No. 4 Nanjing Road

If you are not exhausted yet, why not join us to stroll Nanjing Lu, a pedestrian-only street lined with old department stores and restaurants. It is definitely No.1 most visited place in Shanghai.

No.5 People’s Square

As you walk west to the end of walking street, you’ll find Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. On the opposite of the Renmin Avenue is Shanghai Museum. Our walking tour ends at the People’s Square

The journey is approximately 3 hours.
